(01)Overview
The project
Baldwin’s Plumbing & Tiling is Gareth: a Wakefield-based plumber and tiler handling everything from a single tap to a full bathroom renovation. Customers deal with him from first conversation to final inspection, and the website needed to make that clear.
Built with: Custom WordPress theme
(02)The challenge
What the business needed
Trades are often hired on reputation, and most trade websites look the same. Baldwin’s needed a site that showed the quality of the finish and gave people enough confidence to request a quote.
The business covers a wide area — Wakefield, Leeds, Pontefract, Castleford, York and beyond — so it also needed to be found for searches in each of those places.
(03)Approach
How we approached it
We led with the work. Genuine project photography, a before/after of a real refit and a projects page all show the standard before any claims are made.
Gareth is introduced as the single point of contact, with his own words — “I’m a perfectionist. If something isn’t right, I’ll do it again.” — because that’s what customers are buying.
(04)Solution
What we built
- A custom WordPress theme with dedicated service pages for plumbing, tiling, bathroom renovations and waterproofing.
- Individual area pages for the towns and cities Baldwin’s covers.
- A projects page of real completed work.
- An interactive before/after slider using a genuine bathroom refit.
- Checkatrade score and verified reviews, with links to the source.
- A slide-out quote request form available from anywhere on the site, with a response promise.
(05)Gallery
Desktop, tablet and mobile.

(06)Website experience
Design & UX decisions
The quote form asks only for what Gareth needs to reply — name, phone, email, service and a description — and sets expectations with a response promise.
A clear five-step “how it works” section removes the uncertainty that stops people contacting a trade.
